Show the one you love just how much you care this Valentine’s Day by making this lovely heart-shaped bookmark. It’s simple and inexpensive to make and can be personalised with your own special design using sequins, buttons, confetti, glitter or gems.
You will need:
- Sheet of coloured paper folded landscape. You need to ensure the paper is twice as long as it is wide. The folded size we are using is 18cm x 9cm. If you are not decorating your finished bookmark, choose a decorative sheet of paper that looks good without embellishment
- Sticky fixer or sellotape (optional)
Instructions:
- Fold your sheet of paper in half longways (landscape)
- Then fold in half again (as per the image below)
- Open out the last fold so you can see the middle crease. Using this crease as your guide, fold one side upwards (as shown below)
- Repeat this process on the other side, so that you have a rough heart shape (as below)
- You may want to secure this in place with a small piece of sellotape or a sticky fixer. This will help you maintain the heart shape
- Now you need to fold the paper to form the curves of your heart shape. Fold down the top of each side by approx. 1cm
- Your paper should now look the same as the image below
- Next you need to soften the corners of your heart shape. To do this, fold each corner over (as shown below)
